Gabriel Hawkins (played by Matt hew Charles Hall), a seasoned pirate despite his young age, has lost his family and friends as global terror has spread across the planet. With air traffic closed down permanently, he has sailed his father's ship Invictus to seek refuge in the uninhabited regions of the South Pacific. It was on this voyage that Gabriel and his younger brother Michael, aided by their cousin Lucius fell into the ways of piracy, making them some of the most wanted men on the high seas. His fear of his past and the fears of what wait ahead for him make for unsteady times on the voyage to the Dark Horizon, but his familiarity of situations on the high seas make him the perfect captain for the ship Invictus.

Director turned actor Matthew Charles Hall is no stranger to performing, but in the medium of film this marks his debut. His stage credits include award-winning performances as “Joseph” in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (two different runs), “Captain Von Trapp” in The Sound of Music and “Curly” in Oklahoma! (both opposite Dark Horizon co-star Crystal Cooper), as well as various other shows. As a musician, he has been seen on stages around the globe including the Hollywood Bowl in Hollywood, California and the famed Sydney Opera House in Australia. In 2005, Hall performed with famed Maestro John Mauceri with The Lord of the Rings symphony composed by three time Oscar® winner Howard Shore. In 2005, Hall completed his film Projections and vowed only to direct film, never appearing on the other side of the screen. In 2005, he broke that promise and cast himself as the lead role in his fantastical epic journey called Dark Horizon. This marks the third time he and co-star Crystal Cooper have played romantic companions in a performance. View the Contacts page to read more about Hall's directing experiences.
