Jonathan Davies (played by Kyle Cahill), a native New Yorker, was studying at a university in South Africa when the world fell apart around him. Left alone on another continent, Davies took his college tuition and funded Gabriel Hawkin's first trip from the Mediterranean back to the waters of the Pacific. Davies has always enjoyed the lifestyle of liquor, women, and rock and roll; all of which is hard to find when you are hundreds of miles from land, but his love of treasure and the longing to live like a traditional pirate have overshadowed those desires. He hopes to return to the Dark Horizon and retrieve the legendary treasure of the North Star.

Kyle Cahill adds the role of “Jonathan” in Dark Horizon to a rather diverse resume of performances, which include roles onstage in the musicals Godspell, Anything Goes, and You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown . He received critical praise for his performance in The Secret Garden. As a film actor, he has appeared in the short films Samaritan (directed by Matt Hall) and Structure (directed by Shauna Fleming). As a musician, he has performed both vocally and on guitar in various venues across the globe. Dark Horizon marks his feature length film debut.
